Sorry I didn't get anything up here til 6 a.m., too! Only one Fourth of July a year -- had to spend that in the city with some friends.

Good trade for both sides I think. It must be nice to have a GM willing to trade away a guy taken #2 because it isn't working and acquire quality players in return.

I had to think on this one for a bit, but in the end, I like it.

I have ALWAYS been a huge Loui Eriksson fan, and he fit's the Bruins style, a line of Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson would be probably the best 2 way line in the NHL next season. 2 Selke nominees on the same line and a responsible Marchand, should be nice.

The prospects are good ones, but it's an obvious "wait and see" approach with them (wish we could have gotten Faska or Oliesiak(Sp?) but oh well)

Dallas got better too, they got younger and Seguin and Benn on a line will benefit both players IMO, that will be a scary, fast intimidating line no matter who plays Right Wing.

Either way a great "Hockey Trade" and PC just keeps gaini8ng my confidence with how damn good of a GM he is

I think both teams are winners here. Chiarelli is a heck of a GM. But wait when did Erickson win a Selke???

Yep, Eriksson kinda underrated, will unfortunately bring a lot for our rival. Not worried at all for Seguin, this trade will help him mature and he will be given all the chances to become that true Elite player. That remind me of Ribeiro when he was traded (given?) to Dallas, he matured and became a very good player.

They need another top 6 player, and it better not be Jagr.

Are the Bruins getting older?

There are some very good young teams starting to come on stronger in the East. Not sure it makes sense to give up on a 21 year old kid. But you know the Bruins know more about Seguin than we do.

Great pickup by Boston. He's a solid two way player who will do really well on Bergeron's wing.

Very eventful 48 hour period for the Bs here.

Im still holding out hope for Horton.... but would be very pleased with Alfie or Iginla. Looks like PC is going all in for the next few years

Not too much older when you add 3 specs as well who are all young and the young guys coming up like Hamilton, krug, bart, plus Loui is only like 27!!

That and a franchise Goalie who is in early 20s as well.

I wouldn't want Horton at 6M a year though, and wouldn't want him if he wants a smaller market team ala CBJ, Alfie would be awesome, but I think he stays in OTT, Iggy would be good if h will come cheaper like 4 or 4.5 a year.

We need another Top 6 winger to put with Lucic and Krejci... that should draw the eye of some FA's as that is a sick line to join

if they cant land a bigger name, some cheaper options could be guys like Mueller, Brunner, Bouchard or Boyes. Not that i wold be lining up to grab them, but certainly affordable options

Yes we do.... but is putting a 40 year old Alfie or 35 year old Iggy on that line a good idea? I think to be successful they need a similar style/speed/age player.... Clarkson seems the best fit as far as UFAs.

Or Perhaps PC is looking to make another trade....

A team so close to winning the cup decides to make this huge of a move is pretty gutsy. Eriksson is a fantastic player and every team in the league would love to have him but my question is why can't the Bruins work with young budding stars? First Kessel is let go now Seguin, two players who aren't even remotely close to seeing their best years. Maybe both should have been left in Junior and seasoned in the minors before being brought up to the NHL? As I said gutsy move because now there are two players the Bruins gave up on who can come back and bite them in the butt.

Yeah, I think Eriksson is going to be a great fit for you guys. Also, Joe Morrow is no throw in. The kid can really play a solid 2-way game. IMO the pens may not have stretched so much for Letang if Morrow was still in the picture. He's ready.

Boston now has traded a top 5 pick 3 times in the last 8 years. all three times they have trashed the player on the way out. Classy move.

Note: Patrick Kane had "off-ice" issues. Management sat him down, he won another cup.

Thornton and Kessel both became better players after leaving. Their "off-ice" issues never followed.

Best fit, yes I agree, but if he wants 5-6M a year there is no way

And the bruins went on to win a cup afterwards, no biggy. cap management is a real thing in todays NHL, this is an unfortunate side of it. Its not all to do with "off ice issues"

It is pretty crazy though, that Alfie was team mates with Eriksson at Forlunda in Sweden and played on the National team with him (I think even on same line)

Maybe PC is being sneaky here LOL

I agree but Seguin was NOT a good fit here. the kid is too immature and he has been sat down before. the kid loves to party! He is always drinking at the clubs even during the playoffs, i don't blame the kid, if I was his age i would too but when the cup is so close, blacking out is not what I'd be doing. kid has off ice drinking/partying issues.

EDIT: you might want to listen to Chia-pets interview about the trade all he does is praise the guys

Your missing the key points on this deal. There is no room for Seguin as he is a natural center. He very inconsistent and soft. The kid cannot win a puck battle to save his life. This is a great move for both teams. Eriksson is extremely underrated because he played for Dallas period end. I love everything about this move. Good job trying to trash the Bruins though. Maybe do a little research next time.
